I have a slight obsession with bodysuits. I love the option to wear a bodysuit as casual or dressed up. I love the seamless look that is achieved when paired with a midi skirt or pair of high-waisted jeans. I also love how confident and sexy I feel when wearing a bodysuit. Any article of clothing that can hug my curves and make me feel great is a plus in my book.
Yes, I know what you’re thinking, “Bodysuits are such a pain when it comes to using the ladies’ room” and trust me, I’ve had those moments. But if you’ve read my previous posts, I am also a huge fan of jumpsuits, so clearly I enjoy complicated clothing!
The history of the bodysuit is also quite interesting. The bodysuit progressed from the leotard. It was first exposed in the 1950’s and was worn as a blouse or a t-shirt. In the 60’s, it became a trademark attire of the Playboy Bunnies and the cartoon superhero, Wonder Woman.
In the 80’s, Donna Karan and Azzedine Alaia introduced the bodysuit as a fashion item for both men and women. Fast forward to 2010 when bodysuits resurfaced again to be worn as blouses as well as paired with evening wear attire. Don’t you just love how history repeats itself? 😉
