Aside from fashion, I am obsessed with haircare and skincare!! You can ask any of my relatives or friends and they will tell you. Throughout my life, I have tried a myriad of skincare products always trying to find what will cure my skincare concerns and help my skin look its best. I will never share a product that I have not tried personally or stand behind! Anything I share with you guys, I love and recommend and hope you try as well!
This winter has been brutal in NYC which makes it way too cold to shoot outside! Until the weather becomes a little bit more bearable to shoot in, I want to start sharing more of my skincare and haircare routines and the products I have been using.
I have combination skin, meaning skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others. For me, my t-zone is oily and my cheeks get dry, especially in the winter. I have to make sure I am cleansing enough to declog my pores to prevent whiteheads and blackheads but also keep my skin hydrated. Today, I will be sharing with you guys one of my new favorite skincare brands that I love, Laneige, that has been helping keep my skin both clear and hydrated this winter.
Laneige is a skincare brand that has been around for over 20 years and through their research, their water science works to address each skincare concern whether it be hydration, age prevention or pore minimization. Over the summer, I purchased the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask at Sephora. After a bad experience with the EOS lip balm back in college (read about it here), I’m drawn to any hydrating lip product! The lip mask is amazing and I have been using it religiously every night since I got it. After doing research on Laneige and reading amazing reviews about the rest of their skincare line, I knew I had to test out additional products.
During the Sephora VIB sale before the holidays, I purchased Laneige’s two trial kits – Normal to Dry Skin and Combination to Oily Skin. The Normal to Dry Skin kit includes a Moisturizing Foam Cleanser (for normal to dry skin), Skin Toner (for Normal to Dry Skin), Water Bank Essence, Water Bank Moisture Cream and Water Sleeping Mask. The Combination to Oily kit includes a Multi Cleanser (for all skin types), Skin Toner (for Combo to Oily Skin), Mini Pore Waterclay Mask, Water Bank Hydrating Gel, and Mini Pore Blur Perfector.
I purchased both kits to see which products worked better on my skin. Honestly, I loved all of the products from both kits and I didn’t have any breakouts or irritations. However, I decided to buy full sized products from the Hydrating Kit, excluding the Water Sleeping Mask because I already have a product very similar to it but I would definitely purchase it in the future. While I liked the Multi Cleanser from the Pore Care kit, my skin did feel a little tight after use while the Foam Cleanser made my skin feel hydrated and smooth. With the weather being so cold at the moment, I need all the hydration I can get but I will definitely try the Multi Cleanser again in the summer.
The Laneige products I use daily are: Moisturizing Foam Cleanser, Essential Power Skin Toner, Water Bank Essence, Water Bank Moisture Cream, and Lip Sleeping Mask .
I use the Moisturizing Foam Cleanser first. You can feel how moisturizing it is just from touching it before applying to your face. This cleanser is so creamy and it really foams once it touches your wet skin. I love foam cleansers because I feel my skin is really getting a good deep cleanse. My skin always feels so hydrated and smooth after I’m done using this cleanser. I honestly don’t even need to apply an oil or moisturizer after using it, even though I do, but that is how moisturized my skin feels after using it.
Next, I use the Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin. If you’ve watched my instastories, I’ve mentioned many times that a toner is very important part of your skincare routine. Toning after cleansing is important because the toner will remove any dirt, oil or sunscreen left behind by the cleanser. If you have an oily t-zone like myself, you need a toner! Toners also help hydrate the skin and minimize the appearance of pores. This Laneige toner is gentle on the skin and does not dry out my skin nor do I have a tight feeling after using it. It makes my skin feel clean and I have seen a slight decrease in the size of my pores.
After the toner, I use the Water Bank Essence, which has been a life savor this winter. Like I mentioned, we have had some cold weeks in NYC and I am always making sure my skin is moisturized to the max before I head out into the cold. Using this under my moisturizer and SPF has definitely kept my skin very hydrated this season. This product is so light that it feels like there isn’t anything on your skin so I don’t mind applying additional products on top of it. The Water Bank Essence is like a sheer, lightweight moisturizer that absorbs into the skin very quickly and leaves skin soo soft. This product will forever be apart of my skin routine. If there is one product you need for your skin this winter, it is the Water Bank Essence.
Lastly, I use the Water Bank Moisture Cream, which does a phenomenal job at keeping my skin moisturized all day and does not make me super oily like other moisturizers usually do. It is not a heavy moisturizer which I love and absorbs into the skin very well. At night, I apply the Lip Sleeping Mask after I finish my routine. It smells amazing and keeps my lips well hydrated all through the night into the morning.
I have tried many skincare products but none of them have given my instant gratification like Laneige has. I have been using their products for almost two months now and my skin is much clearer and hydrated. I definitely recommend their products and totally recommend trying the trial kits to find what works for your skin before committing to the full sized products. What works for me may not work for someone else but if you have the same skin type as me, I would say to give these products a go! Laneige products are sold at Sephora and via Laneige’s site.
This is the first of many skincare and haircare posts to come. I will be sharing my complete morning and night routines in upcoming posts as well as the hair products I have been using lately so stay tuned! 🙂
