Linen has always been a great resort wear and summer material. It’s lightweight, absorbent and the most breathable fabric. I remember that very clearly from my Intro to Textiles class in college. 🙂 However, this summer linen has been seen everywhere and is a must-have in your wardrobe. Some have even called it the “sexy trend of 2018!”
Linen and sexy are two words you’ve never heard used in the same sentence. Most people avoid this material because it wrinkles easily but that doesn’t bother me. Linen has resurged this season in many contemporary designs, like blazers, crop tops, skirts, rompers and dresses, like the one worn in my last post. Some of these styles haven’t been seen in this material before and I think that’s why it has been so popular this summer. It’s a fresh take on already favorite summer pieces. I don’t know about you but being able to wear a cute linen romper, be stylish and not worry about sweating through your clothes on a hot summer day is the dream!
Every summer, I usually buy a pair of white jeans, whether they be skinny, cropped or flare. This summer I traded my white denim for a pair of white linen pants and I am so happy with my decision. As I get older, I am realizing how important fabrics are and on those hot, muggy summer days, I just want to wear the coolest fabrics!
These are the only pants I want to live in this summer! I paired these pants with white mules and a one piece swim suit. Yes, the top I’m wearing is a swim suit! Some of my swimsuits can pass as bodysuits or crop tops so why not wear them out?! Don’t be afraid to experiment with pieces you already own!
I completed the look with my favorite Cult Gaia Ark Bag. Bamboo and raffia bags are my favorite bags to wear in the summer and they pair so well with linen. This is such a cool, calm and collected look that I will be wearing often this season.
Ladies, forego polyester this season and get yourself some linen! Don’t let them see you sweat! 😉
